Contribution of Hadronic Vacuum Polarization to Hyperfine Splitting of Muonic Hydrogen

The contribution of hadronic vacuum polarization to the hyperfine splitting of the muonic hydrogen ground state is calculated with the account of experimental data on the cross section of e+e− → annihilation into hadrons and the dipole parameterization of electromagnetic proton form factors.

Compared with previous calculations, the accuracy is improved by using the latest data on e+e− → hadrons. The status of the QED prediction for HFS is discussed.
